Job Overview | This position provides technical support to sales representatives in the office and in the field. Requires excellent technical and communication skills, prior technical and customer problem resolution experience and the ability to work well in a team setting. A comprehensive understanding of Application Development Software, concepts and terminology is required. Proficiency in Java and related tools is desirable.
Qualified candidates will work with enterprise customers to shorten the sales cycle by overcoming technical hurdles within these accounts. Sales Engineers must have solid communication skills, project management skills, sales ability, technical expertise, and work well in a team and independently. They must also be able to communicate complicated technical material in a results-oriented environment.
General Responsibilities
- Working with the Inside and Outside Sales Representatives on joint account calls.
- Working closely with SWaudit sales representatives and partner community as a technical consultant of SWaudit technologies during sales calls, demonstrations, webinars, account planning and lab tests.
- Answering technical questions and conducting demonstrations of products and new features to prospects and to various groups within existing customer accounts.
- Interfacing with various customers at both a project management and a technical level and position Solidware as a viable solution in real time during customer meetings.
- Acting as a mentor to other Sales Engineers to share knowledge and best practices to advance the sales of our products and technologies.
- Providing technical descriptions and content for proposals in response to RFPs and RFQs.
- Gathering ongoing prospect and customer feedback, enhancement requests, and related information.
Qualifications
- Requires the ability to interact with many different types of individuals, including VPs of Software Engineering, Software Architects, CTOs, Engineering Managers and business professionals. A broad background and general knowledge of technical areas and a basic understanding of related terms and software development processes a plus. The successful candidate will have demonstrated self-confidence and self-reliance in conducting demonstrations, training, and experience working in Business-to-Business situations.
- Applicants must have good communication skills both verbally and in written form and the ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions. Critical thinking, reasoning, and problem solving are an essential part of this position. Must be a self-starter that manages time and activities with little day-to-day guidance from management.
- Excellent listening skills resulting in a high level of customer satisfaction. Must be able to listen for opportunities as well as for potential technical hurdles, and then to appropriately capitalize on the former and address or adapt to the latter.
- The ability to travel. This position requires extensive travel (up to 75%).
Technical Requirements
- Java programming experience and software development experience is a plus
- Experience in web development both on the server-side as well as the user interface is a plus
- Experience with relational databases is a plus
Years of Experience | 7+ years in application development software space and 5+ years providing sales support and explaining technology to customers and sales prospects
Education | Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent. Additional business-related education is a plus.
Citizenship | Must be a US citizen or permanent Resident

Technical Skill Requirements
- Extensive, hands-on professional experience in Object Oriented Application architecture and programming (design and development)
- Extensive experience with development in Java, particularly on the web tier
- Experience with Spring, Spring MVC, CSS, JSP greatly desired
